HARRY POTTER THEMED WEDDING AT CREWE HALL
CHARIS & SOPHIE | HARRY POTTER INSPIRED WEDDING
Charis and Sophie had an amazing Harry Potter inspired Wedding Day. They made their vows at the beautiful Crewe Hall, a 400-year-old Jacobean mansion, set in 8 acres of parkland in Cheshire. The setting was perfect for their theme and the styling was incredibly creative positively transporting you to Hogwarts.
OWL RING BEARER, STRING QUARTET AND LOTS OF MAGIC
The tables have been imaginatively named after classes at the legendary school, there was book and potion centrepieces, Bertie Botts jelly beans as favours, and a gorgeous forbidden forest inspired cake with a fabulous “Always” cake topper. Just like Hedwig, they had a fantastic owl ring bearer too during their ceremony as a special touch. This bewitching day had so many wonderful moments that made their day magical.

A BIT ABOUT THE COUPLE...
Bride Sophie tell us her love story…
How did you meet? ..."We met through friends and little bit of help from social media."
Tell us about your engagement?... "Throughout our relationship I’d always wanted to go to Edinburgh with Charis as it’s my favourite city but we just never got round to it. For my 29th Birthday Charis had told me we were going to Manchester on the train to meet with her brother, go for a meal and some drinks but when we actually got to the train station she surprised me with tickets to Edinburgh and a champagne picnic. When we arrived she took me to The Elephant House cafe where J K Rowling first started writing the Harry Potter books, which made it extra special. We went on to have some lunch, a few cocktails and even tried some Whisky with being in Scotland. She asked me if we could go and look at some of the gardens, specifically one between the government buildings. As we got there Charis sat on the bench and got the selfie stick out of her rucksack and asked me to have some pictures with her, so being the poser that I am I was happy to mess about pulling stupid faces, little did I know that the whole time she was holding the ring behind my head. I was so focused on the camera she had to ask me to turn around, but as soon as I did I saw the ring and burst out crying, followed by “is it a joke”, as Charis has a habit of pulling pranks on me. We both stood hugging and crying for what seemed like ages then went and had a glass of champagne and called all of our family."
Tell us about your wedding planning journey… "We originally wanted to get married in the South of France (our favourite holiday spot) and had looked into beach weddings for a couple of months, but soon realised the logistics of getting family and friends over there would be so expensive so we decided to go to a local wedding fayre. The minute we walked in to Crewe Hall we both looked at each other and said “this is so Harry Potter” and that’s where it all began. It all fell in to place quite easily, we watched the films a lot to make sure we could run with the theme but still make it classy. We sourced and made most things ourselves."
What was the theme/ colour palette of your big day?... "Harry Potter had to be the theme as we love the films! The tables were named after the classes and the centrepieces were books, potion bottles, Harry’s glasses and a wand. We had a cake designed around the forbidden forrest, we walked down the aisle to Hedwig’s Theme played by a string quartet but the most Harry Potter thing was the owl that flew down the aisle with our rings."
What was the best bit of your day?... "Seeing Charis for the first time, we didn’t know anything about each others dresses and she just looked absolutely stunning."
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?... "To enjoy every second of the planning, don’t get stressed because it’s so much fun and you’ll miss it when it’s over. Enjoy every second of the day and take time to just sit and embrace it all because it genuinely is the best day of your life."
