An intimate family wedding with a Portuagese twist! When Andrea first told me about her wedding at Residence Nantwich I was so excited.
An intimate ceremony with around twenty guests, followed by a culinary feast and Rui's family flying over from Portugal, this was going to be special.
On the day I arrived at their gorgeous new Cheshire home and was greeted Andrea and the girls. Melissa from B Beautiful by Melissa was looking after Andrea's make up, and her hair had been styled earlier that morning at Gregory Roe, in Nantwich town.
Not long after being introduced to their four daughters I knew it was going to be a fun day, as they were already up to mischief! Also getting a picture of them stood still was going to be a challenge! In the meantime Andrea headed upstairs to get in to her dress. This was no ordinary dress, it a had traveled all the way from David's Bridal in the USA! Andrea's sister lives across the pond and this was a great excuse for a spot of trans Atlantic dress shopping. Stunning Andrea appeared at the top of the stairs and the light was perfect for me to capture her coming down so gracefully. Once the girls were ready we headed out to the garden to take some fun portraits and await the wedding car. Andrea's good friend Lisa arrived in her gorgeous white car with customary ribbon and flowers, oh and champagne! At this point I left the ladies to have a glass of fizz and a moment together as I headed to Residence.

I arrived at Residence, this wasn't my first time, I've been here many times for their amazing food and cocktails but never a wedding. The elegant regency building built in 1736 was once the Lord mayor of London's "Residence" and it sits proud in the heart of Nantwich.
Inside I found Rui and his gorgeous family, all the way from Portugal. Everybody was relaxed and enjoying themselves, anticipating the brides arrival. The small but intimate white room held just twenty guests, all close family and dear friends of Andrea and Rui's.
Andrea arrived with her bridesmaids and they climbed the grand staircase up to the ceremony room. She entered from the back of the room and the guests smiled from ear to ear as they got their first glimpse of her. The biggest smile was on Rui's face of course!
The registrar proceeded with a beautiful ceremony and pronounced them husband and wife.
I felt really privileged to be able to capture this intimate marriage, and to be there with Andrea and Rui's closest.
Everybody made their way outside to enjoy the sunshine and some cocktails. I took family pictures on the stairs outside, again this was super special as half the family live in Portugal.
After lots of mingling I whisked the couple away for some quiet time and to take some romantic couple portraits. We didn't need venture too far as the old fashioned streets of Nantwich provided some awesome backdrops.
Back at residence there was more cocktails and chatting in the sunshine. I headed up to the dining room to checkout the table details and have a sneak peak at the cake.
The room was simple but elegant, pastel colours with white table cloths and understated details. Peach and pink coloured flowers decorated the room with candles to set the mood. Wedding favours came in the form of tiny bottles of Port shipped all the way from Portugal, and the children had their own personalised colouring books to keep them busy.
The wedding party sat down for their feast and I left them to enjoy. A short while later I returned to capture some very moving speeches. Rui, his sister, and Andrea's sister all said a few words which produced some tears and laughter. It was great to be part of this small group as I got to know everybody so well and they made me feel like one of the guests. Finally to cut their amazing wedding cake made by Airy Fairy Cakes. This scrumptious tower of Victoria sponge covered in fresh fruit was to die for! They cut the cake to laughs and cheers and a Portuguese champagne toast! "SAUDE! (Cheers!)
