THE ASHES WEDDING BARNS PHOTOGRAPHY STAFFORDSHIRE

LIZ & JONNY | STAFFORDSHIRE WEDDING AT THE ASHES

Liz and Jonny are one of the most lovey dovey quirky couples I've ever met! It was wonderful to spend some time with them capturing their stunning autumnal wedding day in October 2017 at the Ashes Barns Wedding Venue! The Ashes Barn and Country House was the perfect setting for their celebration, a gorgeous Staffordshire wedding venue set in 50 acres of rural countryside. I started the day photographing Liz and her bridesmaids in the Old Dairy preparatin room at the Ashes.

AUTUMN COLOURS, PINE CONES AND PUMPKINS

Candlelight, pine cones, conkers, striking autumnal flowers as well as beautiful rustic wedding touches such as the wooden palette order of day, a wooden crate for cards, tree slice centerpieces and tree stump vases, lots of autumnal leaves and pumpkins made a beautiful seasonal impact on the venues rustic stone barns. As a nod to the wedding proposal the wedding tables were named after bridges they'd been on too. The seasonal and colourful palette of the couples big day blends beautifully with the rural Staffordshire surroundings of the Ashes Barns. The gorgeous autumnal theme that runs throughout the day envelops you with its vibrancy and warmth and it was a joy to have been part of this amazing day.

A BIT ABOUT THE COUPLE

Liz tell's us a little bit about themselves and their planning...

How did you meet?... "Like a lot of couples we initially met at the travel company we both worked for."

Tell me about your engagement?... "Our engagement was a bit showy and over the top but wonderful. It was on Valentine's Day 2014 at the top of Sydney Harbor Bridge with a harpist & film crew present as lots of couples were getting engaged that day. The story made the Australian national news!"

Tell us about your wedding planning journey?… "The experience of planning the wedding was actually ok. We had a book that we used for every meeting, random thoughts and planning of our finances to keep ourselves in check. There were moments where making plans and bringing everything together was massively overwhelming but we ploughed through together which is key!"

What was the theme/ colour palette of your big day?... "Autumn and Canadian theme as our honeymoon was in Canada in the fall and we used beautiful seasonal colours."

What was the best bit of your day?... "That’s really hard to narrow it down! It would be either the "I do" part or our first dance both of which were amazing."

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?... "Take advice and other people's "do's and don'ts" with a pinch of salt. At the end of the day everything is your choice. Enjoy planning together, work together and compromise so you are both happy with the final plans."
